What equipment do you need to board a loft?

Boarding your loft isn’t an easy task for most so ensuring you get in a professional with all the necessary tools is a must. This reduces the possible hold-ups, delays and errors you could face if you’re looking to take up the task yourself. There isn’t any specific loft board installation equipment, meaning most experienced installers should have the equipment in their possession already.

Equipment typically used

As we’ve mentioned, typically, no specialist equipment is needed to kick-start your new loft boarding installation project through a professional’s skill and knowledge. Primarily, the equipment used will ensure the most efficient and cleanest finish achievable by a loft installation expert. The main pieces of loft board installation equipment a professional would likely need are:

Saw
Hammer
Screwdriver(s)
Drill
Tape measure
Pencil
Dust mask
Gloves

A loft boarding specialist may also have these further pieces of loft board installation equipment to ensure the job is carried out efficiently and accurately.

Jigsaw
Workbench

In terms of the construction itself, quality materials are used to ensure it is able to withstand the weight and carry out its purpose as a storage space. Typically, softwood is used in the construction to ensure the cost is brought down as well as allow for any possible movement. Our professionals also use a system called ‘LoftZone StoreFloor’ which is recommended for loft boarding over insulation. This system ensures airflow is maximised within the loft space.

Benefits of raised loft boarding

Getting your loft installed professionally, with their loft board installation equipment, can have multiple benefits, including your newfound storage space. You’ll also benefit from increased building value and lowered heating prices.

Increased building value

By having a boarded loft, you make your space more valuable to others and somewhat substantially increase your useable square-foot. This is desirable for most as it means items related to family history, Christmas, clothes etc, can be stored safely and securely away from the main useable space within the home.

Lowered heating prices

Properly installing loft boarding with adequate air space can bring down heating prices as there would likely be an improved level of insulation and airflow. The loss of warm air through the roof is a primary way that a house can lose heat.

Extra storage space

Some homes may not have enough useable to store the belongings of the homeowner. Increasing the storage space within the home through loft boarding installation can indirectly tidy the home and give people the chance to properly sort and store items they own.
