Loft Boarding for
Post-1975 Homes

We Provide Loft Boarding packages tailored to properties built during or after the 1970s and can help you gain masses of extra storage space WITHOUT SQUASHING your Loft Insulation.

See How Instaloft Can Transform Your Loft Into
a Fantastic Storage Area

Most of us want to use our loft for storage but they can be unsafe and dangerous places. Homes built during the 1970s onwards often have water tanks, pipework and wiring in the loft as well as the loft insulation.

Other Loft Boarding companies cannot board a loft properly as they often try to use timber to raise the floor with. This is insufficient for the purpose and is no longer acceptable under the 2013 building regulations. It squashes the loft insulation, and any pipework and wiring must be worked around often leaving an irregular floor height and gaps. It is also far too heavy for your loft structure.

Fortunately we’ve installed our raised loft boarding in hundreds of these homes. Our flooring system will protect your Loft Insulation, electrical wiring and pipework so that you can use your loft safely without damaging it all… or yourself in the process. It is the ONLY officially BBA approved system for boarding an insulated loft.

A Typical Loft Boarding Package for Post 1970 Homes

Over the years methods used in construction have changed. Houses built in this period are similar in construction to most modern new build homes but tend to have smaller loft access and also often have water tanks in the loft.

A Typical package that we are asked to do in this age of property consists of:

A chosen area of our raised loft floor system – You can choose to have all or just part of your loft boarded

An Enlarged Loft Opening fitted with a Hinged Down UPVC Loft Hatch

A 3 Section Aluminium Loft Ladder with operating pole for ease of use – You can also upgrade to a 3 section timber folding loft ladder which comes with an extra large loft hatch built in.

A Single Light and Switch – Fitted by our fully qualified electrician and issued with a minor works certificate.

Truss Shelving – Handy shelving installed onto the trusses that add extra valuable storage space in smaller lofts or just to keep things off floor level

Loft Insulation – Some homes require more loft insulation to bring them up to the recommended levels of 270mm.

All items are optional and you can pick and choose between them to suit your own needs.
